When to Use the 5-Pillow Formula

The 5-pillow formula is designed for sectionals and large sofas 90 inches wide or longer. It uses five pillows across three cover types to maintain visual rhythm without overcrowding.

The formula uses asymmetry deliberately: more pillows on the longer side of the sectional, fewer on the shorter chase. This reflects how the furniture itself is weighted.

Color and Texture Strategy

With five pillows, you have more room to build a palette:

Base covers (both): Same solid fabric — creates visual anchors at each end
Accent: One step deeper in color with a subtle pattern or texture difference
